The Wolf Pack is back at work preparing for the up coming season. With a great summer of weights and condition and a team camp visit at OU, we’re primed and ready to open up the 09-10 season. We have high expectations coming off a 30-3 season with both state and national recognition. Everyone is excited and eager to get things rolling.

After loosing a fantastic senior class lead by Mike Groselle (Citadel), Jimmie Jones (Navarro College), Tyler Melville (Hunn Prep), Mark Damiani (Texas A&M), Geoffrey Bates (Bakersfield JC) and Tory Johnson (Collin County), this year’s team is seasoned and very skilled. Although young, we are blessed with fantastic size, great shooting and four year lettermen Jackson Jeffcoat. Senior leadership will be the key for this season as we return only one starter and seven lettermen that gained valuable playing experience from last season. In addition, we add a very talented underclass that finished 20-4 on JV.

We are expecting big things from this year’s team. You won’t want to miss the action as we tip off on November 17th @ Lake Highlands.

FIRST ROUND OF PLAYOFFS – WOLVES DEFEAT IRVING

( Tue, Feb 23, 2010)

Note:

Last night was a huge game for Plano West basketball.  With this game tagged as the toughest first round match in the metroplex, Irving HS presented us with a major challenge as they had beat us handedly in the What-a-burger tournament earlier this year.  We were excited to get to this match-up.  The team had something to prove as they had us down by as many as 30 points in the first meeting and on top of things, we lost Jackson to an ankle injury for 3 weeks.  The loss of Jeffcoat had a lot to do with our second place seed as Jesuit ended up winning the district title.

Last night we got out to a great start taking a commanding half time lead of 13 points. Early in the 3rd we increased the lead to as many as 17 only to see a quick surge by Irving to end the quarter. We started the 4th quarter up 11 only to see a change in officiating that made the game very interesting down the stretch.  Irving made some deep 3's to cut into the lead as we struggled from the line.  Tension ran high as we got a little rattled in the final mins of the game.  Two big FT by Jackson and Michael Jahner gave us a 2 point win.

I'm proud of the boys as this has now become a Banner season. Bi-District Champs going into Coppell to play Justin Northwest for the area round match up on Friday evening at 7:00pm, is an amazing feeling.

Go Wolves!
